Spicy Seasoned Saltines - by Becky Lou

These Crackers take the Cake!! I have made several batches of these crackers, and for now...this is the Best of the Batches!! Just some notes before you start...

*I have found that if the Red Pepper Flakes are fresh, you really have to adjust the amount you use. Older Flakes lose their "Kick" and you may need more, while the fresher ones have an extra "Kick"!!!

*It is very important to immediately start turning the bag every which way to coat the crackers right away. The longer they sit, the better the flavor, but they are great after an hour of turning!

*You will be surprised, and make some hungry people very happy with these crackers, they are GERRRR-8! alone, but awesome with cheese/deli meat or with soup!

1 1/8 c Canola Oil
1-2 T red pepper flakes/ to taste
1 Pkg (envelope) Buttermilk Ranch Style Dressing Dry mix
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
5 second spray of Cooking Butter Spray (next to Pam)
2 tsp parsley flakes
3 sleeves Original Saltine Crackers

Put crackers in gallon ziploc bag, mix all other ingredients VERY WELL! Let mixture sit for at least 15 min, stirring often to mix and dissolve seasonings.
Pour slowly in small stream over crackers tossing around as you pour. Be Sure to stir the mixture (not the crackers) OFTEN while you pour as the seasonings will settle to the bottom. You will need to start turning the bag in different positions immediately, at least every 10 minutes, as to coat all the crackers evenly. Continue turning the bag for the first hour, and up to 2 hours for the best even flavor.

Additional OPTIONS:
>Leave out the Red Pepper Flakes completely for a much milder cracker
>Substitute Canola oil with Grapeseed, safflower, or any flavorless.... NOT OLIVE OIL
>Substitute 1 Tbl Butter Flakes for Butter Spray
>Add - 1 Tbl Lemon Pepper
>Add - 2 Tbl Parmesan
>Add 1 Tbl Ranch Style Dressing Mix for more flavor
