Calendar of Events – Keep up with Becky Lou!!

Along with all the adventures that keep her running and gunning across the country, Becky Lou is on a mission to help provide women affordable economical adventures. Using her passion and the many people she meets, She is constantly searching for a way for groups of women to share in an outdoor experience!  Seasoned outdoors women are welcome, but new beginners are encouraged to join on the events that allow for novice participants!

Becky Lou founded an open Facebook group called, “A Girls Hunt Out” (inspired by the infamous event of a Girls night Out!) with the motto to “Let No Huntress be Left http://buysoma.net Behind”. Hoping to provide a common resource for all organizations to post and promote women’s outdoor activities from shooting, fishing, camping and hunting!  Becky Lou plans several activities each year including from Pheasant & Quail Hunting  in NE  Texas, Waterfowl Hunting in the swamps of Southern Louisiana,  Turkey Hunting in Kansas, Nebraska and the Tensas Reserves of NE Louisiana just to name a few, but she also seeks out and promotes others from the many organizations across America.

Wed
Field to Fork in Dumas, TX
Aug 3 @ 6:30 pm – 10:45 pm

I am excited to be in Dumas,TX for an event that is sure to enlighten me on where my food comes from, how it is grown, and how the farmers in the High Plains of Texas, and across the country, strive supply us with healthy food, It will be great to mingle with the people behind the scenes and gain more insight into how they are working to continue feedingus, our children, and our children’s children. Over the years with a lot of negative media hype with terms like ‪#‎GMO‬‘s and warnings of pesticides, just like many Americans I have started to worry about where my food came from, and who was responsible for making sure it was healthy and fit to eat. I began to do some research into some of the more positive information available and very excited to have the opportunity to talk with commercial farmers and many others who are behind the scenes for feeding the multitudes.

I have list of questions and I would like to hear your cares and concerns, maybe I can help bridge the gap of communication and help more people trust that farmers are working to produce the best quality fare for our tables. I have been doing some research and this website below is a MUST READ and full of real people, farmers and their families, talking about their challenges and their goals.

What questions would you ask the person responsible for putting food on your plate, and your grandchildren’s plate, and so on?
Please list your question HERE and I will work on getting the answers! Bridging the communication gap between farmers and the consumer.‪#‎eatfearlessly‬ ‪#‎fieldtofork‬ ‪#‎followafarmer‬ ‪#‎findourcommonground‬ ‪#‎tcpa‬

4th Annual 3D Archery Shoot for Dreams Come True @ Archery Shoot Benefit for Dreams Come True
Aug 27 all-day

Dreams Come True of Louisiana, (www.dctofla.com ) regularly “hands out happiness” for kids with life threatening illnesses here in Louisiana. Josh Castille was one of those fortunate children. Josh has a rare life threatening disease that has yet to be firmly diagnosed. This condition qualified him as a “Dream Child” and his condition was submitted, reviewed and ultimately he qualified for a “Dream Kid”. His wish was to harvest a nice Whitetail Buck with a Bow. Although a challenge not easily taken, this young boy could have asked for anything and DCT was determined to do grant it. Along with several volunteers  the arrangements were made with an outfitter, per Doctors orders a medical nurse volunteered to make the journey, and ultimately Josh’s dream became a reality. At the time of his hunt, there was no way to know how long Josh would live to see his next birthday, but God willing he is still with us and starts college this fall! The love and caring by DCT to Josh and his entire family touched them so deeply that Josh made a vow to do whatever he could to help raise awareness and funding for such a worthy organization. He envisioned an Archery Shoot with all proceeds to help fund Dreams Come True, and enable them to grant another child’s dream. This year will make the “4th Annual Archery Shoot for Dreams Comes True hosted by Josh Castille” and is scheduled for Saturday August 27. The location will be in SW Louisiana @ the lovely Lake Charles Archery Club ( http://www.lakecharlesarcheryclub.com/ ). Truly a first class range and one of the most beautiful ranges in the United States. They have just added some fabulous new  3D targets!  There will be lots of food, drinks, silent auctions and prizes for winners! You can see the flyers with info and registration attached here, or go to www.dctofla.com for information. They are also in need of more prizes and silent auction items, so please consider donating to this great cause. (Tax information on attached flyers)

My good friend Bobby Palermo will again host a hunt for the GIRLS! He and his wife Roberta have put together this package deal for another Fabulous “Girls Hunt Out”! This will be the fourth year we have taken a trip down to these beautiful marshes, and it is always one of the most laid back and peaceful trips of my year. The locals are so friendly and happy to share their little piece of heaven with a group of women for a few days!
Bobby and his wonderful wife Roberta operate the finest hotel in the area, L’Banca Albergo, which is Italian for “The Bank Hotel“, and it is rated 6 Star in my book! They took a historical bank and renovated it a few years back, with the vault now a Wine Vault, and the Drive Thru Window still intact for one of the rooms! So elegant, warm and cozy!

Read about the hunt in my column on Women’s Outdoor News
http://www.womensoutdoornews.com/2015/12/what-happened-on-a-whitetail-hunt-in-texas-for-women/

This is a private ranch and Jerry has managed it closely for over 11 years. Access has always been restricted to family, close friends, a few celebrities (to include my good friend “Larry Weishuhn”) and an occasional hunt donated for charity. After many years of careful management of the wildlife of whitetail, fallow, axis & black buck within the 5000 acre ranch, they have begun to open it’s gates hunting opportunities to a chosen few! Come join us and you are destined to be treated like a Princess!

Sonora Texas is one of my FAVORITE Places to hunt!
TROPHY AXIS are EVERYWHERE is this area of Texas!
Judd Martin is the son of a very good friend of mine Greg Martin, and is a veteran hunter. He has been hunting and guiding around this area of Texas for a wide array of animals. He and his beautiful family are now calling it home and the photos will show just how successful he has been and just why he has decided to start his own business “Martin Hollow Outfitters”. Having built professional credible relationships with many landowners in the area, he has secured some fabulous hunting “honey holes” to include Axis, Black Buck, Whitetail, Barbado Ram.

Why I choose to hunt with this outfitter:

“Martin Hollow Outfitters is located in Sonora, Texas and owned/operated by Judd Martin. We currently offer year round axis and exotic hunting, spring turkey hunting, and fall whitetail hunting on 30,000+ acres and hold a 100% harvest rate on exotics. We have a great passion for hunting and the outdoors and believe there is no better way to harvest an axis buck than to get up close and personal by using the spot and stalk method. We also offer some of the most prime turkey hunting in Sutton County. Hunting whitetail with us will give you a true Texas experience. Our hunting packages include meals and lodging and are semi/fully guided. We have tailored our services to provide a very safe and personal experience – our focus will be on you and your success. “ — Judd Martin
Judd has been hunting all of his life. He was born and raised in northern Louisiana where he spent his youth in the swamps and woods studying deer and learning how to find the best spot to put his tree stand. He has guided hunts for whitetail, turkey, and axis on various ranches in Sonora, Texas for the past 15 years and has a strong understanding of the land and the wildlife that inhabits it. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Judd started Martin Hollow Outfitters because he enjoys sharing his love of the outdoors and an authentic and successful hunting experience with others.

Along with hunting, Judd loves his family and God. He believes that spending time outdoors – whether it be in the woods, mountains, or fields -is one of life’s greatest blessings. He currently lives in Sonora, Texas with his wonderful wife and two beautiful children.

What Happened on a Texas Whitetail Hunt for Women

This is a private ranch and Jerry has managed it closely for over 13 years.
